Jobs were at stake in the NBA lockout, but in cities where the local NBA franchise is the only major professional sports team, the picture is potentially even more bleak. Of the 30 franchises in the NBA, seven play in NBA-only markets: Memphis, Oklahoma City, Orlando, Portland, Sacramento, San Antonio, and Utah. All of which are economically supported by their respected NBA team. THe other 23 teams were froced to give up some revenue in order to keep the 7 franchises alive. THe only teams that year to see positive numbers were those seven, the 23 others lost $11 million.
